PILGRAM'S PROGRESS "THE JOURNEY TO HEAVEN"
When I requested L.C. review this film I knew she would be quite taken back by it. She had not read or been exposed to the book Pilgrim’s Progress. My suggestion came for the review because years before both my sons had read the book and enjoyed it greatly; even enjoyed writing their book reports in Christian school. I suggest you do the research on John Bunyan and find out for yourself what inspired him to write the book, Pilgrim’s Progress. Perhaps it will encourage you to research more of his writings.

Pilgrim’s Progress is a movie I was not at all familiar with. All I knew was it was a Christian movie and based on the story by John Bunyan. So with this limited information, I sat down to watch the movie. Afterwards, I just kind of sat there and wondered how I was going to write this review. In a nutshell, this film is a visual representation of the Christian life and how many people think they are on the path to Heaven, only to learn they are in fact on the path to hell. A person cannot make their own path to heaven; they must accept Jesus as their Savior.
The Christian path is long and narrow, and we must rely on Christ in order to avoid the pitfalls of the devil. In a sense we are all pilgrims on a journey through an unknown territory, we are all searching for purpose. Once a person becomes a Christian they discover everything that happens in life happens because of the choices they make. If we put our focus on God, the harder it will become for us to stray from His path. The movie does a very good job of depicting the truth of the road from salvation to heaven, or the road of the deceived to hell (through works).
Because this film is an epic adventure, it does cover a lot of information in a small amount of time; Think
Lord of the Rings and Chronicles of Narnia but lower budget. This movie has everything; action, adventure, suspense, humor. I definitely see this movie becoming a Christian classic in years to come.
This movie contains no sexual content or foul language. However, this film does contain a large amount
of violence and frightful situations, so I would recommend this film to teenagers and adults only.
The film does present the gospel, but if you are viewing this film with a group of people I would suggest further explaining the path to salvation after the film is over.
Blessings
